05.31.11 [Yonhap News] Seoul District Public Prosecutors’ Office indicts ‘Lee’ and two reporters on charges of spreading false reports about Rain.

South Korean authorities have indicted ‘Lee’ (55), a businessman who works on clothes, ‘Kim’ and ‘Yu’ who work as investigative reporters for internet newspaper ‘S’ and news agency ‘N’, respectively, on charges of spreading false reports about Rain.

In March of last year, ‘Lee’ filed a complaint against Rain claiming that Rain embezzled company funds, and he even released the related information to the two reporters to let the papers soon get hold of the story. So, Rain sued the three for libel over the remarks last October.

Before this, the court ruled Rain not guilty at the end of December last year.

05.25.11 [scanationsg] It’s RAIN-ing in Singapore

4 years later, Rain hits sunny island again!

With jaw-dropping prices during Rain’s 2007 concert, fans this time were relieved to know that they only had to pay $288 for the front row seats to ‘THE BEST 2011 Rain Asia Tour in Singapore’.

Cheaper = less spectacular? Nah! The cost of the concert itself cost a whopping SGD 1.5million! And of course including an extensive crew of 120 people!

When asked to choose between movies, performing and producing boy bands (MBLAQ’s producer is Rain), he said that it was like choosing between his mother and father!

The Best 2011 Rain Asia Tour in Singapore ended with a high note on Sunday, 22 May at the Singapore Indoor Stadium with the Korean superstar, Bi Rain, showing different sides of himself to the fans. Sexy (that 1,000 litres of rain falling on Rain scene in Singapore Indoor Stadium), charismatic, cute (check out that wink!), provocative (Rain and sexy female dances, need I say more?), friendly, professional, and more sides of Rain were seen at the two-hour concert.

Approximately 5000 people attended the concert. More than 500 fans from Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, USA, and Canada came to Singapore to specially support the great performer.

Dear Clouds

Sorry for this late notice.  I only just got back to Shanghai and talked to the organizer about the fan meeting which will be held on 24 May.

First of all, please note that the media and fan meeting is FREE OF CHARGE.  The tickets are not for sale.  All tickets are numbered.

Location: 3rd Floor, Shanghai Joy City.  This is a large shopping mall.  Address: No. 180 Xizang Bei Lu, Shanghai (上海市西藏北路180号).  (About 1 km from People’s square).

Time: 5 pm to 6 pm.

Meeting content:  this will be a media meeting followed by a fan meeting.  The main activity for the fans will be a birthday celebration for Rain (birthday cake will be prepared).  Fans can prepare birthday gifts for Rain as well if they wish.  Rain will also have a big group photo with the fans.  All other activities proposed by us have been turned down by Korean side.

The organizer can only give 40 tickets to Baidu Rain Bar and 30 tickets to Cloud China.  This will mean that it may not be possible for all 8th cloud members to attend the meeting.

For members who have registered at Baidu Rain Bar, we will have lucky draw to determine who could attend the fan meeting.

Please therefore arrive early by 3 pm at Shanghai Joy City.  We will check you cloud ID, put your ID/Name in the box and will draw 40 names to attend the fan meeting.  If you arrive later than 3.30 pm we will not be able to put your name/ID for the lucky draw.

I am sorry for this last minute notice.  We have tried our best to fight for more quota for 8th Cloud.  However the organizer has commitment to other major sponsors and can only release 40 tickets to Baidu Rain Bar.

I am not sure how Cloud China will distribute their 30 tickets.  If you have registered with them please check with the master directly.

05.23.11 [Tnp] Rain strips and teases

The Korean superstar Rain put young K-pop bands to shame as he single-handedly held the 5,000-strong crowd’s attention for a solid two hours.

As the lights went out and people started to lean back in their seats during the first, what they saw on screen jolted them off their seats again.

Rain had let the cameraman follow him backstage as he proceeded to change outfits.

Cue loud, shocked screams which became louder as his top came off and even more deafening as Rain put his hands on his pants.

05.23.11 [xin.msn] Rainism hits Singapore

Throngs of overseas fans turned up for the Singapore leg of the Korean Superstar’s final concert tour before his army enlistment

It was their final chance to get up close and personal with Rain last night before the singer-actor temporarily hangs up his dancing shoes to serve his country for the next two years.

Though “a little sad” to bid goodbye, a couple of Malaysian fans who specially flew in on Sunday morning for the concert were “proud of Rain” and will continue to “wait two years from now” for his return.

To grab the best possible standing spots in the mosh pit segments, these Malaysian fans started queuing at 9am, hours before the The Best 2011 Rain Asia Tour in Singapore concert began. The first in line was an 18-year-old Malaysian fan who arrived at 6.30am with her mother in tow.

Armed with paper fans and fan paraphernalia, waiting patiently outside the stadium’s premises were a group of 200 overseas and local fans from Rain’s official fanclub. We were told by two Singapore reps that a group of 150 Korean, Japanese and Indonesian fans specially flew in to attend the event last night.

05.22.11 [remarkable] Rain & Vogler – Dresdner Musikfestspiele

english translation:

Dresdner Neueste Nachrichten – 21./22.05.2011 – S.10 – Stephan Wiegand

Within One’s Reach

Cultural meeting in the opera. Rain is the popular description of the fifth element.

It’s not obvious at the first sight how Rain influences the occidental High Culture. The Korean Star seems easygoing relaxed amused and plays with his talent. A glance beyond his facade is absolutely impossible; even in the opera, a place for high culture , the auditorium has to search vainly for seriousness. The 29 years old singer, actor and pop star with excellent love of entertainment was flirting constantly with his audience: With his numerous Asian fans, who were confident with every single line of his lyrics, and with critical visitors of the opera. Everyone who wanted to get involved with it, fell for his charm. That was also the self-feeding contrast program, a glance to Asia, a walk on a golden bridge, which the artistic director of the ‘Musikfestspiele’ (music festival) Jan Vogler intended and who enjoyed every single moment of this amusing mass migration.

Approaches like ‘Pop Meets Classic’ has been strained repeatedly in the past few years. In most cases the singer used to buy the suitable famous orchestra for this kind of variety, the musicians took over the part of the side decoration. An attraction, which is meanwhile predictable and does not surprise anymore. A symbiosis of Rain and Vogler is from its approach a completely different one. In this case a cellist discovered ‘the pop culture’ for himself and is furthermore careful enough not to leave behind any individuality.
