05.19.11 [musikfestspiele] Opening of the 34th Dresden Music Festival

Opening of the 34. Dresden Music Festival

Today, the Dresden Music Festival celebrates its opening with a concert by the Sächsische Staatskapelle at the Semperoper. Until June 5, the 34th Festival season once again presents a dense program of internationally renowned orchestras and exceptional soloists. Artists such as the Korean pop star Rain in his European debut, a joint concert with Jan Vogler, or »Asia’s Stars of Tomorrow« bridge the gap between Europe and Asia, under the motto »Five Elements«. Another eagerly-awaited event is the Dresden premiere of a specially commissioned work at the Frauenkirche, and David Marton’s new production at the Schauspielhaus. The Berlin Philharmonic and Sir Simon Rattle will receive the Glashütte Original MusikFestspielPreis.
