It was their final chance to get up close and personal with Rain last night before the singer-actor temporarily hangs up his dancing shoes to serve his country for the next two years.

Though “a little sad” to bid goodbye, a couple of Malaysian fans who specially flew in on Sunday morning for the concert were “proud of Rain” and will continue to “wait two years from now” for his return.

To grab the best possible standing spots in the mosh pit segments, these Malaysian fans started queuing at 9am, hours before the The Best 2011 Rain Asia Tour in Singapore concert began. The first in line was an 18-year-old Malaysian fan who arrived at 6.30am with her mother in tow.

Armed with paper fans and fan paraphernalia, waiting patiently outside the stadium’s premises were a group of 200 overseas and local fans from Rain’s official fanclub. We were told by two Singapore reps that a group of 150 Korean, Japanese and Indonesian fans specially flew in to attend the event last night.

Dresden Music Festival 2011: Asian Pop Meets European Classic

Scream Alert at Sempers

Dresden – A new experience in the solemn Semperoper: not a quiet devotion while expecting a musical experience, but a heated up emotional atmosphere reigned Thursday night, when the artful meeting of the chief director of the music festival Jan Vogler on the cello and the “South Korean King Of Pop” (“TIME Magazine”) Rain, took place. With his appearance a scream alert was scheduled.

It was his first stage performance in Europe – a sensation, not only for his fans. There were visitors from 25 countries, families were travelling from Japan, Korea and China. Teenies in Party-Chic, equipped with colorful light sticks, never-ending clicking cell phone cameras and plushies were part of the scenery. To every teasing dance move, every wink of the idol, hysterical screams were not far away. Some ladies in evening gowns must have felt being out of place.

Rain performs in the presence of a throng of eager fans.

Rain’s backup dancer ‘Park Kyung Ryul’ with the ID name @gori7911, posted on his Twitter, “I didn’t realized that there were so many Rain fans loving him with all their heart in Germany. Many young people were seen dancing to the beat of his ‘Hip Song’ in the plaza after the concert. I was so amazed by this fact that there were so many young fans loving him like this. How nice! I think his German fans are such lovely persons.”

Continuing, “The response to his performance in Dresden was so fantastic.. When he finished performing, the audience gave him a standing ovation, in addition, they even shouted, “Encore!” Just then, I felt a lump in my throat..I was totally unprepared for their response because I thought that the concert hall would have a quiet atmosphere. I can’t believe that we performed in the presence of such a throng of his eager fans…”

05.19.11 [mcmworldwide] Rain at the Dresden Music Festival

On the occasion of the Dresden Music Festival, MCM is bringing together two unconventional artists to participate in a special project. Under the motto of “Five Elements”, the 34th Dresden Music Festival in 2011 invites performing artists to engage in musical encounters between Orient and Occident and to participate in a dialogue between Asian and European philosophies of life. “It is always an interesting time when a motto and a festival program develop together and become entwined” says Jan Vogler.

In accord with this theme, MCM has succeeded in bringing together two luminaries from different styles. This evening, Jan Vogler ? world-famous cellist and artistic director of the Dresden Music Festival is going to perform together with the Asian global pop star Rain. As one of the internationally best-known stars on the classical music scene, in past years Jan Vogler has made the Dresden Music Festival a must-see event on the calendars of the world’s music aficionados. Rain, on the other hand, is Asia’s most popular all-round talent. Not only a pop star, he’s also an esteemed actor and world famous multi-entertainer. Time Magazine selected him for inclusion on the magazine’s list of our planet’s hundred most influential individuals already in April 2006 and also recently again in 2011 for the second time.

05.13.11 [KoreaEconomy] A joint concert between Vogler and Rain will be held

A joint concert between Vogler and Rain will be held during “Dresden Music Festival” sponsored by MCM.

German “Dresden Music Festival” which starts May 18, will be held sponsored by MCM, a global luxury brand.

On May 19, a joint concert between ‘Jan Vogler’, executive director for the festival and German world-class cellist, and Rain, Korean pop star and actor selected twice as one of Time’s top 100 most influential people in the world, will be held.

We can say ‘Jan Vogler’ and Rain represent Western music and Oriental music, respectively. For this reason, it looks like many people have lots of expectations for and interests in the concert.
